Let him sleep
wake him not
let him sleep for once
let him smile
let him dream
let him sleep for once.
It's a cruel world
that awaits his benign grin
that awaits his cry and tears
let him sleep
wake him not
let him sleep for once.
A deadly ambush of a life
awaits his struggle to live
it hungers for his sweat
and hungers for his toil
let him sleep for once.
He sleeps in a world
where smiles are real
and words spoken are meant
sans guile, sans sleight
Hence, let him sleep for once.
The leering world-
doesn't deserve his sweat
his blood, his brains or his life
let him sleep
wake him not
let him rest his nimble limbs
let him smile
let him dream
let him sleep, for once.

Oh no . He has to learn to fight.
He'll learn by himself Don't worry.
i am not proud of my education Matangs, its so useless. Been away, spent a lot of time with the tribals, same story there. They are confused. Education has ruined them. They no longer have faith in their old traditional tribal medicine. They go for OOSI and TUBE MATHRE' (injection and anitibiotic capsules) Most of them are sick now. They lost their healthy and active life. They are after paper money. They move to towns looking for work with half education, end up committing crime, prostitution. They never needed money for hundreds of years.
We imposed our values and ruined them. Because our society felt that it is so right.
Humans are the only species which has deviated from nature leading to utter misery. What ever bad foundations our forefathers have made, its up to us to adjust and lead a happy life, accepting compromises as a way of life. It will take hundreds of years to rectify the damage and go back to nature. We may go extinct before that.
Wish i was a monkey Matangs.
@rauf..
that was a beautiful observation! hats off!
tht s wht i mean..he'll, one day learn to to fight his way through this world.. he'll learn to live for others.. he'll learn to survive when the world is bent on sucking up the last drop of his blood.. but until then.. he sleeps.. Sleeps, for once in his life!
u say, u wish u were a monkey! but arent we all? "APING" the west.. tht s wht we do.. all traditions lost! ppl around me keep doing all crazy stuff.. they colour their hair which only adorns their already bizarre attire! and yes, we cant turn back.. coz if we do we ll be all lost!
u have a subtle perspective of life, that comes out thru' ur poems.
This is one of those few works that has a realistic undertone.
Keep writing.

@indr..
thnk u!
We lose our innocence competing to society and failing to admire ourselves. What we have is lost due to pressure. When we keep our minds clear and be happy with our wants, everything is fine and it only lingers to be joyous.
@priya..
hmm.. good observation. i liked what u said- "..happy with our wants.."
