CUP-CAKES AND BRONZE BELLS

There is a certain shop- a certain cake shop. The best one I have ever been to. Of all the varieties of cakes in there- there was a time when I would only want to have cup-cakes. I never liked anything else. It’s not the same anymore.

Sugar- is something that I prefer not to have. I don’t like the sweetness in it. Dolls- I like the ones that actually do something. Not just be. I have always hated the Barbies! I love the monkey dolls that have clangs in their hands- and would clap their hands once you key them.

Noise, crowd, maniac laughter, boredom, sunny afternoons- there are just too many things that I do not like.

Sometimes- all that you seem to need is silence. Sometimes- even Rahman’s tunes fail to bring your smile back. Sometimes- the tinkling of a tiny little bronze bell is all it takes to inspire you. Sometimes- there is just so much around, yet you only seem to need a little piece of woolen thread to make you happy.

I have always had weird needs. I found joy in playing with the “aluminium balance”- the ones used by vegetable vendors!

Lighter Side” has given me joy. It has made me smile. It has helped me be me. It has designed my life.

This is one of the very few things- that makes me happy. And it has been a part of me- my life since 2006, it completes 4 years this year. I have never had blog anniversaries. It never occurred to me that I must write an anniversary post. But this time- I felt that I must. For not only that this is going to be the fourth anniversary, but this would also be my 100th post! Strange though it is- 4 years and just 100 posts!

I would like to thank each and every one of the readers who have kept me going all these years! It’s a great feeling to see myself here- where I am. I would like to remember a few of the posts here- that had marked the change in me- the growth in me.

Rajanigandha - This was something that helped me realize that I could write.

Masterji - A story based on a true incident- as narrated to me by my father.

Death of Hate - My first try at abstract writing.

Anonymous- A story- that surprised me. I ended up writing a 5- part series!

The Other end of a Cigarette - My best, till date. Also- my 50th post.

A little dream called hope - Inspired by true happenings around. This was a white light in a dark room.

The Marble Game- It depressed me.

Diya - A style I had tried for the first time.

Old man under the Tamarind tree - Point of view story.

Goddess of sin - An abstract. A surprise.

There are a lot more to come along. For now, dear blog- a very happy 100 to you!

Though i'll be completing 5 years of blogging oh deeah! what a word ! sounds like i am dropping bombs, BLOGGERRR !, oh yes 5 years, but my real experience is just like a beginner. i am still confused. i still have no clue what i am doing with my blog.

But in some of your 100 posts i have read, you have brought joy to the readers like me by sheer art of your narration which i blissfully lack, Writing is in your blood Matangs, i really wish you take it seriously.

Template change, i will not ask why, you had some beautiful ones in the past, but this one sucks.
Don't take my word, you like it. and it stays. that is the end.

yes, you have grown, more and more serious and sensible. i am getting more and more silly with every post i write.

i love anything sweet, i drool at the sight of it. Don't be too serious Matangs, Go have an ice cream, have chocolates. i want to wish you all the creativity and imagination in the world, but you already have it.

Hey Matangi, Congratulations!! Keep expressing your thoughts!! You are very good at it.

Well, here is a question for you to ponder.

Can we make an adult to trust the people around him/her or improve upon his/her abilities to do so?

A Happy Hundredth, i should say! Keep going. One thing i'd like to share here,

'Words from our mouths tend to stop when we're extremely happy or extremely sad! But those words tend to flow from our pens(or keyboards, in a blog's case' instead!' :)

@KJS...

thanks!!!

that's difficult.. sometimes- there's this "ego" that comes in by intelligence- that unknowingly kills the "child" in you- and by so doing- the easy trust that is characteristic of "child" is lost forever...
the "intelligence" must be made to trust someone.. difficult... but not impossible..

Mawley, I do agree with with your opinion! Only thing I want to add is that it is not "sometimes" in fact it is always!!

Now another opinion seeked. Why does the divorce rates are going so high in India as well! I would like to know your opinion!!

1)People are getting more and more impatient each day and every day. They need every thing instantly. And when you get everything at your reach- you lose interest in it. This trend is seen common in both genders.
2)Every one is educated. Good thing. But there is no cultural quotient in anyone. Which is a set back. Things begin to look more practical towards this side of life- the decisions are for now and not for long.
3)Zero-tolerance. Impatient. No one wants to give-in too easily. "Sorry"/"Thanks" become too costly to be wasted upon.
4)Easy access to harmful substances. Media insights perversion and hostility instead of harmonizing cultural affinity leading to cases of domestic violence.
5)Both genders feel that they are mature/intelligent enough to lead an independent life. They, at some point feel that they can "manage" things by themselves. It is good. But there are times when life becomes something that must be lived together. Come what may.
6)people think possession is happiness. this is wrong. happiness is but a state of mind!
